Rune Raider is a puzzle game that revolves around magical runes, collectible stones imbued with different powers for your character. Atmosphere-wise, we’re aiming for ancient ruins and glowing runes, and mysterious traps, in a clean-cut design that makes it easy to read. The central loop combines movement, puzzle-solving, light combat and survival.

Single-player Experience

The game begins when you, the player-character, step into a crumbling ruin that is packed with lockable doors of runespells, lethal traps and enemy guardians. All the while, all of you are playing against each other by using runes to help or hurt one another, some of which upgrade your attack power while others block damage and still more open up hidden paths.

Gameplay is mix of pacing and choices. You proceed room to room, deciding which runes you want and which paths are worth the risk. The pressure is on as you descend further into the ruin, traps and foes moving faster and more erratic. A full run will usually take 5-15 minutes depending on player skill and luck.

Browser Version & How It Works

Rune Raider runs on the magic of HTML5 and WebGL, allowing it to be lightweight and easy to pick up. There’s no downloading and installing here — you just click, load and play.

Pro Tip: First load might reach 30-60 MB (runes + effects), but return sessions are instant thanks to cached assets.

The game runs on both PC and mobile browsers, but users with a mobile may have to run the app at lower visual effects levels for better performance.
